Asian Lantern Festival: Into the Wild

Have you ever been to an Asian Lantern Festival? Our zoo, the Central Florida Zoo is having one right now! During the event the entire zoo is transformed into a night time wonderland. Even before you enter the actual Zoo the walkways are lined with glowing flowers, stars, and moons.

The Central Florida Zoo has been around for over 30 years and has been through quite a transformation in the past few years. It’s been redone with all new boardwalks, a new bear exhibit, and so much more! So, this inaugural run of the Asian Lantern Festival is a welcomed event.

If you’re wondering if it’s worth it to go, the answer is Yes! Every walkway is covered in lanterns, butterflies, umbrellas, and more. Every group of animals are covered in the displays, even a few mythical extras!

Make sure you don’t miss the larger than life 200 foot long dragon hiding among the trees right in the middle of the zoo. It’s twinkling lights and grand stature will be sure to delight all ages!

The cost of the festival is $18.50, but insider tip if you purchase early online and have 4 people you get a group discount making it only $12.50! Go early so you have plenty of time to enjoy all the lights and displays. You’re also allowed to go through the exhibit as many time as you’d like.

The event runs through January 12th, every night from Wednesday to Sunday from 6 pm to 10 pm. The zoo will also feature a variety of Asian and American food options, as well as unique artisans crafts.
