Thanksgiving Vacation

This year for Thanksgiving we decided to head up to North Carolina to spend Thanksgiving with Matt’s Family. We headed out Tuesday night and returned Sunday night. It was a nice little vacation and we had a great time.
Last time we were there visiting Matt’s Dad bought a Turkey Fryer just like the one that we have here at home. So we had not just 1, but 2 fried Turkeys for Thanksgiving dinner. The original plan was to have two meals lunch and dinner, but everyone was stuffed there never was a second meal.

Just about got it
There it is!! So yummy!!

Then he lounged around being a nerd on his computer like always! haha

Rusk helping peel the apples for my dish (It was so cute that he was so into peeling the apples with that peeler because my Grandma has one of those and I remember being just as excited to use it to peel apples for her when I was his age!)
My contribution My Grandma’s Cinnamon Red Hot Apples!!

Cute Turkey plates for dessert
My plate! So much good food!
On Friday we went Hiking here

So Beautiful!!

I would hike so much more if it looked like this here in FL

So I usually don’t eat Pecan pie but this was a chocolate bourbon one that Erv made and it was delicious!! She actually ended up making another one by Saturday cause we all loved it!

Sunday we went on another hike next to this lake

Just Us! Look how beautiful Fall is up there

Matt and his Dad

We did lots of hiking while up there because it’s just so beautiful how can you not want to run around outdoors. Plus it did lots of benefits to counter act all the food we ate. When we got home I hadn’t gained one pound over Thanksgiving and Matt had actually lost weight while we were gone (yes it’s ok to go ahead and hate him now, haha)!
On Sunday our flight was suppose to be at 8:40 and a direct flight from Greensboro to Sanford and we’d arrive back at 10:30. Unfortunately for us the flight got delayed an hour so we didn’t make it home til about 12:30 am! So no Laundry got done, no unpacking we pretty much just picked up Lucky and headed home straight to bed.
Monday morning was not a happy morning having to lug ourselves out of bed and head back to work. I actually was quite sad that since we weren’t home for the weekend, no Christmas decorating got done. Everyone kept posting pictures of their trees and festiveness and I was just moping that it would never get done. But, to my surprise when I got to work Monday morning they were like “oh hey, I thought you were off today, we brought in help to cover you.” And who am I to argue with that! I gladly said if you don’t need me then I’m out!
I spent the morning shopping for shin guards for Matt for soccer and new running shoes for myself!! I also got our spoiled little puppy his own blanket for when it’s cold, which he loved!  I then came home and started all the laundry that needed to be done. While that was washing I put up the Christmas tree and hung out stockings. I haven’t put the ornaments on the tree but it’s up and that’s a start! haha
My new very bright running shoes!! I tried on so many and probably look crazy running up and down the aisles in all of them. These were the winners light and padded comfort!

Because he’s so cute here’s Lucky enjoying his new blanket!

Sleeping with his blanket

The trees up and Lucky is facinated with looking to the outdoors through our screen door

No fire place here so the stocking get hung on our shelf with care!
